Pullen at the ONE Wake Internal Assembly and an Invitation

Over 310 attended ONE Wake's Internal Assembly in-person or viewing online.

The main business of ONE Wake’s Internal Assembly on June 8 was to vote on new priorities for the next several years and housing, mental health and public transportation were selected.  Folks from Pullen and other Interfaith Creation Care of the Triangle congregations have been involved in ONE Wake listening sessions this spring intentionally lifting up the economic and environmental justice concerns of 1) the effect on housing affordability of rising energy utility costs and 2) the need of a permanent white flag facility and other infrastructure for our unhoused neighbors during extreme weather.  Their work bore fruit with the decision at the Internal Assembly to research solutions to energy costs and the needs of our unhoused neighbors in extreme weather.  Gail Powell cast the votes for six Pullenites attending.   Some from Pullen & ICCT have already spent time making connections and listening to webinars tracking the rollout of the IRA & IIJA federal funding and its potential to help low to moderate income households decrease energy consumption through weatherization and access to energy efficiency upgrades.  It is still far from clear how these monies will become available to local households.

You’re invited to join this committed team.  We hope you will consider joining us on One Wake’s Affordable housing research team.  I signed up this week and made it clear that we want to focus our research on minimizing rising energy costs through weatherization and access to other energy efficiency upgrades. If you're not familiar with this area, there will be time to get up to speed.   You can sign up here on the ONE Wake site.  And please let us know if you sign up by emailing Lynn at lynnlyle777@gmail.com.
